The cool spring in New England in 2018 seemed to delay plants significantly – until we got that first really warm week, resulting in a near explosion of blooms. I wasn’t getting inspired by any of the ol’ regulars such as dogwoods and tulips, but then the tiny salmon-colored bells of the enkianthus bush by our front steps caught my eye. The light from the scanner really made them glow, especially with the lights turned off (necessary to get the background dark). While not quite as glowing here, they still hold their own with the bleeding hearts, don’t you think?
