Our day lilies thrived this year despite the persistent drought and the clematis, shaded from the harsh mid-day and late afternoon sun, are reliable producers as well. Bringing these together with our increasingly prolific butterfly weed yielded this color splash that reminded me some of a bouquet of flowers cascading down a trestle table in a fancy banquet.
