We try to have our gardens be full of bird and butterfly friendly plants. The delightful benefit to that approach is that so many of the wildlife-pleasing flora is pleasing to us as well. Cardinal flowers are steady producers and their crimson florets can’t be beat for the brightest reds. Hummingbirds like them as well as the salmon-colored tubular lanacera vine clusters — its rare not to see a Ruby Throated or two popping around to the various blooms on either of those plants. The orange butterfly weed is very aptly named as well.
